An outlier is a video that did far better than its own channel usually does. Those videos tell you what an audience wants right now.
The rule
YTNiches takes the average views of the channel's previous 10 videos. That's the channel's baseline. A video that reaches 3× that baseline is an outlier.
Because the baseline is the channel's own, a small channel can have outliers too. A video with modest views can still be a huge hit for that channel.
Where outliers come from
Only from channels you track. Track more channels in a niche and you'll see more of its outliers.
Where to find them
Your outliers (in the sidebar) shows outliers from the channels you track. The Breakout videos tab in Niche Finder shows them across every channel we've discovered.
On Your outliers:
- Feed lists outliers as they're found, newest first.
- Grid ranks the top outliers.
- Trending ranks outliers found in the last 7 days.
All three views filter by when the video was published: Last 30 days (the default), 90 days, or All time. Each card shows the video's publish date and how many times its baseline it has reached.
Rankings favour recent outliers, but the number on the card is always the real multiple. We only notify you, and only add to your activity feed and digest, for outliers on videos published in the last 30 days. Older ones still show on Your outliers. Each outlier stays on the page for 30 days, because YouTube only lets us keep its data that long.
What to do with one
Every outlier card has Extract prompts, which opens AI Prompts for that video, and Get thumbnail ideas.
