Cookie Policy

Last updated

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. YTNiches uses as few as possible: only the ones the app needs to work. That's why we don't show a cookie banner.

Cookies we set

Sign-in (essential). When you sign in, our authentication provider (Supabase) sets cookies that keep your session. They're removed when you sign out or the session expires. YTNiches can't work without them.

Active workspace (essential). If you belong to a Team workspace, a cookie called workspace-id remembers which workspace you're using, so the app doesn't have to look it up on every page. Page scripts can't read it.

Email sign-up and password reset (essential, short-lived). When you sign up with an email address, a cookie called ytn_pending_email holds that address for up to 30 minutes, so the "check your email" page can resend the verification link. When you open a password-reset link, a cookie called ytn_pw_recovery lets you set a new password for up to 15 minutes. Page scripts can't read either one.

Those are the only cookies we set.

Bot protection. The email sign-up, log-in and password-reset forms include a Cloudflare Turnstile check. It runs in a frame from Cloudflare and doesn't set advertising or tracking cookies. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

What we don't use

  • No analytics cookies. Our analytics (PostHog) runs in memory only. It doesn't write cookies or anything else to your device, so a new visit looks like a new visitor.
  • No advertising or tracking cookies, and no cookies shared with advertisers.

Other storage on your device

The app keeps a few preferences in your browser's local storage. This isn't a cookie and isn't sent to us:

  • your light or dark theme;
  • whether the sidebar is collapsed;
  • the pages you visited recently, for the search menu.

Content from third parties

Channel avatars and video thumbnails load from Google's servers (YouTube). Google may receive your IP address when your browser loads them, as with any image on the web. See the Google Privacy Policy.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookies, you won't be able to use the app. Clearing your browser's site data removes the preferences above too.
