Questions
- Why is there no HD version for some videos?
- YouTube only stores the 1280×720 size when the uploader gave it a big enough image. When it's missing, we say so and you can use the next size down.
- Can I reuse someone else's thumbnail?
- Thumbnails belong to the channel that made them. Study them for ideas, but don't upload another creator's thumbnail as your own.
- Does this use the YouTube API?
- No. YouTube serves thumbnails at fixed image addresses, so we build the links straight from the video ID.
- Does it work for Shorts?
- Yes. Paste the Shorts link; it has a video ID like any other video.
